fwiw I took Bond o38.5 for a regular play. Got in at -145 overall. ** Just bought some of it back. I don't trust myself.

Whats the deal with Happy Feet? I don't get why its so hyped. Have no clue how much its going to get. I guess penguins are money.

i think happy feet is gonna be huge this weekend...this is one animated movie that is getting a lot of hype...

i dont care what the tracking says...i think it does into the 40's...mojo has it at 3700+ theatres...3300+ for bond...i think HF could see close to 4k...would only need around 10k per....

Guess I'm the contrairian here. I went over CR 38.5m at a net -115 and HF under 41m at a net +160. Good Luck.

Usual Party Place 11/17

HAPPY FEET 3
CASINO ROYALE 3
LET'S GO TO PRISON 1
AFTER DARK HORRORFEST 1 (well okay technically 9 films)

Expected with tracking in mind and that somehow the 8 gazillion releases between now and 11/23/06 have to find room.

Half a screen less than HEDGE (I would not rule out a split screen added at the last minute) for HAPPY FEET and the same that CLAU3 and FLUSH got. Nowhere near ICE AGE 2 and CARS (5)

TALLADEGA NIGHTS currently holds the record for biggest 3 screen opening PG-13 film, I don't see anything indicating JB21 will give that a run

...thats interesting bc OTH did 38+M on over 4k theatres...

gonna stick with my bet on the over for now....see how things develop...someone already hit bond a couple times bc of his post.....under now favored....would expect it to probably go lower....

I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought the new Bond would disappoint. I'm not buying Happy Feet either, a penguin dance movie? Puhleeze.

What do you all make of the latest line moves?

CR - 37.5 O-176
HF - 40.5 U -122

I'm certainly liking my early leans a lot more now. Although it could be a product of possibly faulty tracking.

Is it just me or does the new James bond look like he should be playing the bad guy role. I don't know about this guy, and this is coming from a bond fan. I guess I'll still see the movie, and snag a James Bond watch at Intertops:

Watch out for James!

Casino Royale is expected to have film fans across America flocking to the movies this weekend – but just how much will the new Bond blockbuster
make at the box office? Place your tip with us and you could be in line to win the new 007 watch!

let me ask you a question...

would you make that bet if the line was

bond 35-39M +150???

fwiw, im sitting on a ton of over 38 and 38.5M and under 41M thanks to hitting the cherry lines at greek/wsex (i got un41 EV at wsex)/ and cris...i hit ov40 HF at wsex also at -115...gonna cover at pinny and grab some plus money...just waiting to see if it goes higher...

if this fuc-ker lands 38.5 - 41 its time to pop the corks....

From Variety

Variety's thoughts on CASINO ROYALE:

"Sony, however, feels that the film will perform as an original, not a sequel, because of the casting change, and will hope for an opening in line with a National Treasure, which bowed to $35.1 million a year ago."

i dont buy that at all...the studio always gonna lowball in case it does fall short they can say it was inline with expectations...bond is 2:24 long..which could limit its amount of showtimes slightly...HF is only 1:38long and will benefit with a few more showtimes...plus its in 80IMAX's that will surely help its gross as those will all sellout...its also in roughly 400more theatres...i think HF should win the weekend and be the #1 movie...

thinking if letting maybe leaving a bigger position on over HF...

i still have that 1 bet on under prison which i feel good about...

I just can't see Happy Feet doing more than Over The Hedge, which would've made 36 million with the same count. Over The Hedge had a ton of marketing and big stars attached, and it also opened in May which is a better month for movies.

I would not be surprised at all to see it hit 38.5, one of the prediction sites has it pegged at 39.

not a lot to go on this weekend as far as midnights go...

JB21 pre-opens (sadly just two to go by so far)

Inland Empire, CA Megaplex
298

Inland Empire Midplex
185

Solid, but Bourne Supremacy for example did roughly 25 to 35% more. Still 30+ looks pretty darn safe as an absolute floor and WOM was just outstanding from what I was told with more than a few Bond fans who had obviously seen most if not all of them, call it at or near the best.
___________________________________________________________

fwiw BS opened with 52.5m on its 3days...take 25-35% of that and JB falls right in the 37-40m range...which would bring a big smile to my face....

glta this weekend.....

The midnight showings weren't advertised very well so many people probably didn't know they were available.

It's spreading fast that this is the best James Bond film of all times. Word of mouth is going to be excellent and i see this film having a big weekend. I def like the OVER now.

It's 96% FRESH AT rotten tomatoes. that's crazy!!!
